The Vermont Department of Labor has released the Registered Apprenticeship Program Development Grant to support new or expanded Vermont Registered Apprenticeship Programs. VDOL anticipates up to eight awards of up to $25,000 each, funded with federal State Apprenticeship Expansion Formula Round 4 funds.
Funding and timeline
Maximum award: $25,000. Up to eight grants are anticipated, implying up to $200,000 if all eight awards are made at the published ceiling. The RFP was released August 21, 2026. Written questions are due September 18, 2026 at noon; the current public page does not state a time zone for that question deadline. A live Q&A is scheduled September 22, 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Applications are accepted beginning October 1, 2026 at 3:00 PM EST on a rolling basis through December 31, 2026. The current public page does not state a closing time for December 31. The expected grant period is January 4 through December 31, 2027.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants include Vermont employers that have not participated in Registered Apprenticeship since July 1, 2023 and intend to sponsor, register, and launch a new program within six months of award; current Vermont Registered Apprenticeship sponsors adding and launching a new apprenticeable occupation; and qualifying industry or trade associations, community-based organizations, economic-development organizations, chambers, and other nonprofits seeking to launch a new multi-employer sponsor or add a new apprenticeable occupation with at least one new employer agreement. Related Technical Instruction providers for the proposed program and state agencies are ineligible.
Submission and contacts
Questions and submissions must be sent to labor.grants@vermont.gov and copied to labor.apprenticeship@vermont.gov. Applicants should use the full RFP and application materials linked from the controlling Vermont Department of Labor grant page and confirm all current program-development, registration, budget, reporting, certification, and documentation requirements before submission.
Atlas fit
Atlas Opportunity Score: 88/100. Vermont identifies healthcare as a high-demand apprenticeship sector, so this can support legitimate healthcare workforce pathways when an eligible employer or sponsor is creating a new Registered Apprenticeship Program or apprenticeable occupation. N9+ Fit: 0/100. This is a workforce-program-development grant, not clinical-technology procurement. QC Healthcare / Dr. Miltie fit: 20/100 conditional. A workforce-development or employer-partner role is plausible only around a real qualifying healthcare apprenticeship pathway and expressly allowable activities.
