Opportunity Overview
The BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Foundation Health Priority Grant – Fall 2026 supports eligible South Carolina organizations working to improve health outcomes and reduce health disparities, particularly for economically vulnerable populations. Current Foundation priorities include access to health, children and families, diabetes management and prevention, health care quality, and workforce for health.
Current Stage and Deadline
The Fall 2026 Letter of Intent deadline was August 7, 2026. The cycle is now open only to organizations that submitted a Letter of Intent and were invited by the Foundation to file a full application. Invited applications are due September 14, 2026. The Foundation’s current public application page does not state an exact closing time or timezone, so Atlas does not infer one.
Eligibility
Eligible organizations include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and tax-exempt educational or research institutions. Applicants must be in good standing with the South Carolina Secretary of State, fiscally solvent, and able to provide three years of financial statements plus the most recent Form 990. The Foundation generally does not accept a Letter of Intent from an organization that already has an open grant.
Application Process
The Foundation does not accept unsolicited full applications. A Letter of Intent is required first, and only organizations approved through that process receive access to the online full application. Because the Fall 2026 LOI deadline has passed, organizations that did not already submit and receive an invitation cannot newly enter this cycle.
Funding Restrictions
The Foundation states that it does not fund capital campaigns or brick-and-mortar establishments, one-time or annual events, fundraising events, individuals, political campaigns or activities intended to influence legislation, advertising, religious activities, indirect costs, other grant-making foundations, animal-related projects, or unrestricted funds. The public application page does not state a standard maximum award or total cycle funding pool.
Atlas Analysis
Atlas Opportunity Score: 63/100. The opportunity has strong healthcare relevance and a proven South Carolina grantmaking record, but actionability is limited because the Fall 2026 cycle is already in the invitation-only full-application stage and the September 14 deadline is approaching.
N9+ Fit Score: 75/100, conditional. The Foundation has previously funded remote patient monitoring, telehealth-enabled maternal care, pediatric telemedicine, technology-supported access to care, and community paramedicine. A legitimate N9+ role could therefore fit an invited applicant’s project involving guided remote physical examinations, vitals, remote assessment or telehealth-enabled clinical encounters, but device and platform costs must be confirmed as allowable within that applicant’s approved project and Foundation budget rules.
QC Healthcare Fit: 15/100. A services role would need to be specifically supported by an invited applicant’s approved scope and budget. This is not a direct Dr. Miltie grant or open vendor procurement.
Realistic Applicant Profile
The strongest prospects are South Carolina nonprofit healthcare providers, government health entities, educational or research institutions, safety-net organizations, rural health programs and school-linked health organizations that already submitted a Fall 2026 Letter of Intent and received an invitation. Invitation status is applicant-controlled and is not publicly disclosed, so Atlas will not fabricate or infer which organizations are eligible to submit at this stage.
Foundation Contact
The Foundation lists its general contact as Info.Foundation@bcbssc.com and 803-788-0222. Application access is through the Foundation’s online grant portal for invited applicants.
Next Action
Invited South Carolina applicants should complete the Foundation’s full application and submit it by September 14, 2026. Organizations that did not submit a Letter of Intent by August 7, 2026 should monitor the Foundation for the next grant cycle rather than attempt a late Fall 2026 submission.
