Volusia County is accepting applications for its 2026 Opioid Abatement Funding Program, 5th Application Cycle, supporting programs, projects, services, and equipment that address the opioid crisis in Volusia County.
Funding: Approximately $2.5 million is available. Programmatic, education, coordination, treatment, prevention, and intervention proposals may request $25,000 to $500,000. Stand-alone equipment proposals may request up to $500,000 with no minimum request. One- or two-year agreements are permitted, and funding is reimbursement-based.
Deadline: September 21, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Volusia County does not publish a time zone in the controlling materials. Applicants must register for portal access and submit the complete application and required supporting documentation by the deadline.
Eligibility: Volusia County Government; municipal governments within Volusia County; qualifying for-profit corporations able to demonstrate at least two consecutive years of service history; and qualifying Florida 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporations incorporated for more than two years. Applicants must also demonstrate at least two consecutive years of service history immediately before the deadline.
Match: Matching funds are not required. Leveraged funding and in-kind support may strengthen an application but cannot include other Volusia County grants.
Priority uses: Medication-assisted treatment, drug abuse response teams, fentanyl testing, education and prevention, and hands-free CPR devices for EMS/fire vehicles. Opioid settlement funds must expand, enhance, or create services and may not supplant existing funding.
Equipment and procurement: Stand-alone equipment proposals are expressly permitted up to $500,000. Awarded agencies must follow their own purchasing and procurement policies when buying services, supplies, materials, or equipment.
Required documentation: Electronic application and budget; most recent independent financial audit; auditor management letter and corrective-action response if applicable; current balance sheet; current profit and loss statement; W-9; IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter and most recent Form 990 when applicable.
Atlas assessment: Atlas Opportunity Score 93/100. N9+ Fit Score 90/100. The Nonagon N9+ remote physical examination platform could legitimately support guided examinations, vitals, and telehealth-enabled clinical encounters in mobile MAT, drug-abuse response, home-response, or other applicant-led opioid-abatement workflows. N9+ itself is not named in the solicitation, so applicants should confirm budget allowability before including the device and platform. Dr. Miltie is not advanced as a direct applicant because the required two-year service-history qualification has not been established; an applicant-side technology or clinical partnership is the more defensible path.
